For many years, I have supported my fellow colleagues by providing training and building interactive resources as a classroom teacher, instructional lead of the Arts, Business and Computers, and a Teacher-Librarian. I am also currently running a business designing applications and have been hired by various people to provide technological support. I have just moved into the Technology Coordinator position and look forward to new challenges and ideas!

Teaching fads come and go but a good teacher...just knows how to hook the students and use the proper tools to get the best results and the most learning. Calculators, internet, social media and now AI have all caused disruptions to the educational fields but, in the end, we are able to harness their power and incorporate (or not!) them into the learning experience to, again, get the best results.

I work with the Google Trainer group to explore new and interesting ways to harness the applications and, now, Gemini, to create interesting experiences. I am also a co-author and editor of the "Connections in Mathematics" book series and have been a featured creator for the "Shakeup Learning" series with my video "The Amazing Race: Thunder Bay Edition." While my best work is often done behind the scenes, I take pride in the positive feedback and appreciation I've received from my colleagues over the years for the resources and support I've provided.

I started with a Bachelor of Science specializing in Mathematics and then attained a Bachelor of Education in the junior, intermediate and senior levels. Since then, I have been always exploring, reading, taking courses to increase my knowledge of technology as well as how it can be applied to education for the sake of increasing engagement and learning.

When not knee deep in apps, I have been known to play video games (at a slowing pace!), reading the newest fantasy/horror/sci-fi books before they are ruined by tv shows and/or movies. I do have a pile of plants I have kept mostly alive through sheer will power and am working on a book nook that will add some panache to the multiple book shelves in the house.
