This allows students to show what they know. Print and cute the number cards to be used again and again. Students can make their own number, identify value and display expanded and word form. Using the digits 0-9 Students will be able to explain and display their understanding of place value up to numbers in the hundred thousands.

This activity gives you step by step instructions how to model identifying author's point and reason using text evidence. It also lists specific learning goals needed to master the skill. Can be cut and glue to be used as an interactive notebook activity if so desired.

Students are given 10 vocabulary words associated with the skill and activity for the week. During centers, students will use a Thesaurus to find similar and opposite words for each of their vocabulary words and track them on this sheet. Students will then write a sentence using 3 of the vocabulary words. Some advanced students will be asked to write all 10. While students are on break, giving them this reflection log will help them keep track of what they are reading. It will also keep up with advancing their level of thinking by truly digging deeper to think about what is read. A few sentences a day will help them fine tune their summarizing skills, allowing them to add details that are important to the story, and ignore ones that might not be so pertinent. This would be perfect for older grades to complete daily!
