I use Word Clines in my classroom to help students with adding detail to their writing and to work on expanding their vocabulary. Students receive a variety of synonyms for a low quality word like "big" and work on ranking the synonyms based on the quality of their description. Students can then refer to these pages when working on their writing in order to describe objects, people and emotions/feelings in greater detail.
