About the store

Experience

I have been teaching special education for over 20 years.

Teaching style

I teach to understand not memorize. I get to know my student's on a personal level, their interests, likes, strengths, then look at data. From this I gather materials that will relate to the subject, concept, and home life. By relating to home life experience, the child gains the concept for a lifetime, not memorizing.

My own education history

Associates in Arts for early childhood education. Associates in Science for child development. Bachelor's in Science for Exceptional Education. Master's in Science for pre-kindergarten thru 3 grade children with disabilities.

Additional biographical information

As a mother of 4 children and a grandmother of one, I have seen how every child learned in a different style. Originally I studied hotel management and hospitality. Not only did it pay the bills, but it gave us a very luxurious life. I invested more time at work then being involved in my first born's education. I saw how important education was to her, not the money. I changed my major to early childhood education in order to be a more involved mother. After four children, the last child was born with a disability. This wasn't during the internet era. Therefore, all my resources were scarce. I had to base everything on word of mouth, not a search engine. I came to the conclusion to help others. How? by educating parents that having a special needs child is not the end of the world. Never give up and educate yourself. Find ways for your child to learn long term. I made a difference at home with my child. Now I dedicate myself to helping children as well as educating parents on early intervention and sharing resources.
