About the store

Experience

I have taught seventh grade math for five years, eighth grade math for one year and Algebra 1 for one year.

Teaching style

I began as a traditional teacher five years ago. Whole group focus lessons, complete a worksheet, take a test. Throughout the years I have transformed into more inquiry based learning where students have more responsibility to figure out the process on their own. Recently I have been trained as a secondary Montessori teacher and try to implement as many practices as possible within my classroom and daily lessons. During year six my students are advocates for their own learning. They pace themselves, are aware of weekly deadlines and have the opportunity to personalized their learning at the speed and style needed.

My own education history

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina Upstate with a focus in Middle Level Education, math and social studies.I went on to gain my Masters Degree from Columbia College in Divergent Learning.Recently I have earned my Montessori Credential from Xavier University.
