This lesson introduces the concept of completing the square with algebra tiles to help students visualize the process. The lesson then continues with the students learning how to complete the square algebraically which they use to both graph and solve quadratic equations.
This resource was created to be used in an Honors Pre-Calculus class, but could also be used in an Honors Algebra 2 Class. Students begin by reviewing what a one to one function is and how to restrict the domain to make a non-invertable function be one-to-one. After completing a few examples where students are expected to find the inverse we move on to verifying inverses with composition of functions.
I created this graphic organizer to use in my Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus classrooms. I typically print it on cardstock so the students can easily access it throughout the semester.
