A great way to build begininng of year stories and get ELA and Art together! Based on the IG page and best seller Humans of New York, this project started as a way to welcome students back to school after COVID 19 quarantined the world.
I use this to introduce reading and analyzing poetry for students who say "I hate poetry". Using the beloved rhyme, "roses are red", students follow a few steps to get to a deeper understanding of any poem. It's a treat to hear students uncover deeper messages in that short 4 line piece.
A great way to introduce students to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Here it is used with "Invisible Man", but can be adapted to fit any character in any book/work/text.
