This guided reading packet provided questions and activities that pushes the readers to think within the text, beyond the text, and about the text. The graphic organizers allow students to organize their though while interepting the book. Students will have opportunities to describe the setting, visualize, summarize, complete a cause and effect chart, and more.

This bulletin board was designed to help students come up with statements that describe the themes of stories they are reading. The seven big ideas are acceptance, honesty, courage, kindness, perseverance, friendship, and cooperation. Each has a definition with it and anywhere from 1-3 examples of sentences students can apply to stories they are reading.

This number sense quiz addresses several grade 3 standards as well as some lower and higher grade level standards. I use this quiz monthly to identify student growth and to regroup them for math centers where I can target skills they need to becoming stronger math students. This assessment checks for student understanding on math standards from grade 1-4. The questions start basic and progressively become more difficult so you can identify exactly where the students is struggling. There is a progress monitoring data sheet that goes along with it that connects to the common core standards. This is found under my prodects for free. I personally use this assessment monthly to track student progress.

This plan allows you to customize the times. I have my students who need one check off every half hour whatever goal they are working towards. I can then agree or disagree with them. This can initiate the conversation about their actions.
