Experience

I have been a teacher for 6 years at the elementary level with experience tutoring and teaching yoga to students at the middle and high school level.. I have a passion for turning "boring" standards into exciting adventures. My experience centers on creating a classroom culture where students feel safe to take risks and make mistakes while learning.

Teaching style

Hands-on, interactive, and high-energy! I believe kids learn best when they are moving and creating. My resources are designed to be "boring-proof," utilizing gamification, interactive notebooks, and project-based learning to keep students engaged from bell to bell.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My favorite teacher moments involve seeing reluctant readers fall in love with a book series or watching a math-anxious student confidently solve a problem. I pride myself on creating a classroom community that students are sad to leave at the end of the year.

My own education history

I graduated with my BFA in fine arts before pursing teaching through yoga until finally moving into the academic world. I attend professional development workshops on literacy, accessibility, and creative writing to keep my methods fresh and relevant.

Additional biographical information

I really enjoy coffee. I am drinking some now. Mythology rules. My dog's name is Loki. I love humanity but sometimes humans are a little odd.
