This is a unit test designed for 1st grade to assess measurement skills and knowledge, including conversions, standard and non-standard units, length, volume, weight, selecting appropriate tools, and estimation. Could be adapted up or down for K-2.

This is a unit plan for the novel, "The Cay." This plan includes aligned standards, calendared objectives, target vocabulary words, essential questions, and enduring understandings. The overarching skills in this unit are multiple meaning words and facets of main idea (including a variety of the way it is tested). After implementation of this plan, mastery of both strands increased significantly, with the multiple meaning word benchmark at almost 90% and main idea at about 70% (this was the f
