Instead of simply TELLING each student how to transform functions, why not have them DISCOVER it for themselves? In this activity, students will graph the functions on their own and use their own findings to determine the rules for transforming functions. This activity is divided into sections to make it easier for them to see the patterns. For example, in section 2, the graphs will only move left/right. After the activity is completed, there are extra practice problems for students to practice
Function notation can be a confusing concept for students to grasp. This resource gives them extra practice on how to evaluate functions using tables and graphs. Students will be asked to solve for input (x) and output (y) values.
