After reading "Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon," students will write about what makes them unique and illustrate a picture of themselves.

This 3 month packet is filled with 60 different writing prompts and a journal template (if a notebook isn't being used). I sent this home with my students this year in hopes that they will keep up with their writing. These prompts could easily fit into other seasons, as well.

I used these daily reading response logs in my third grade classroom this year. These response logs could be used after the teacher has read the story aloud, after guided reading groups, or after independent reading. The 3 pages include 15 different read & respond activities. There are about 30 chapters in The Tiger Rising, so students are ideally supposed to write and respond after every couple chapters. You could hand out one page a week, or staple them to create a packet.

Throughout the week, I require my students to read at least 15 minutes each night. This past year, my colleague and I decided to incorporate reading response notebooks. We used these prompts for students & it was a great resource to have to showcase student growth throughout the year. We gave these prompts to our students to cut out and paste into their notebooks. We only assigned 2-3 prompts per week. You could also do this in class or as part of a center choice.

This activity is a reading response activity that can be used after reading Kate DiCamillo's book, "Great Joy." "Great Joy" is a wonderful holiday book with beautiful illustrations and is picture book perfectly suited for 2nd-4th graders. This activity covers cause and effect, character traits, and figurative language.

There are several ways to use these Reading Workshop Choice Boards. I typically use them for students to complete after independent reading time and while I am meeting with a guided reading group. They could also be used for homework.  Before using, I make sure to model expectations for each option. My goal is for students to know exactly what is expected for each choice so that I am able to meet will small groups or confer with students. Additionally, each of the options are skills discussed

These titles can be printed off and used for a daily agenda. I laminated them and put a magnet on the back of each item to use in my classroom so that they can easily be changed.

This adverb bundle includes 4 printable sheets for students. The first page is a reference page that can be added to a binder or used as a display/poster. The next 3 pages are worksheets/practice pages for students where they practice identifying adverbs, determining what the adverb is telling, and creatively writing using adverbs.
