I have a bachelor's degree in Geology with an emphasis in secondary science and a master's degree in Secondary Earth Science Teaching. Their “ecosystem” will be the school parking lot, and the” species” will be the different car models. Students design an environmentally conscious city using the provided map and description. They must make decisions about where to place the required list (schools, energy plants, waste sites, mining sites etc.). Each requirement has a certain number of boxes that must be put on the map (example: 80 boxes must be used for housing, 2 mining sites that are 2 boxes each, etc.). Then they write a paper using the template provided to explain their reasoning as to why they made the decisions they did.
