About the store
I've been teaching for 13 years. Five of those years were in a Montessori (1st-3rd grade) classroom in our newly-founded public school Montessori setting. Now I teach third grade (the best grade to teach, in my opinion)!

Hundreds Chart Clues - 100s Chart

This activity happens to be themed to fit the Halloween season, but could also be suited as a “creepy” activity to be used any time of the year. Students can use it individually at a center, in small groups, as homework, or as a class.

Area and Perimeter

These activity pages encompass studies from 3rd grade on. The first couple of pages may be review for older students, but then the activities kick into high gear! The document is a PDF, but can be shared with students via email or the web. The activities help students study area and perimeter in different ways, requiring them to think critically using different strategies.

Dots - math activity

These are to be printed out on cardstock, then cut around the outside of each box, fold the blank sides in, so you have 12 separate boxes, all of which will challenge the average first grader (or above average Kindergartener), or offer extra (fun) practice for becoming fluent with facts for a struggling second grader. Note: This is just 1 center, not a whole unit with centers.

About the store

Experience

I've been teaching for 13 years. Five of those years were in a Montessori (1st-3rd grade) classroom in our newly-founded public school Montessori setting. Now I teach third grade (the best grade to teach, in my opinion)!

Teaching style

I honor student input and find value in students' ideas. My classroom is rarely filled with the teacher doing a bunch of lecturing. I have recently become interested in Whole Brain Teaching (check it out on YouTube).

Awards & shining teacher moments

Okemos Commitment to Excellence award, Extraordinary Science Curriculum award, Technology Guru plaque

My own education history

I bleed green and white, for Michigan State University, of course! It's nice living in (or near) a college town. There are so many resources that my students and I benefit from, such as the planetarium, dairy store (how to make ice cream), the Children's 4-H Gardens, Wharton (center for performing arts), and so much more! Plus, we teachers have access to professors and they are often willing to come into the classroom to enrich our lives more! I earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees from MSU. The College of Education has earned many honors too. It's a pedagogical mecca!

Additional biographical information

I have the most wonderful husband and a most amazing son and daughter. My son is in seventh grade and my daughter is in fourth. Life is good!
