Assign each student an invention to research. They will find out the who, what, where, why, and when. They will also create an ad for their assigned invention. I have found this activity to tie in well with the Industrial Revolution topic. Enjoy!

Use this template to provide a hands on experience for your students. I use this template to write classroom bills (rules) the first few days of school. Then we vote them into law, this provides accountability and ownership on their part.

Groups can research an assigned amendment and complete the worksheet to keep their research on task. Then they can present. I do this worksheet with the Reconstruction Amendments (13, 14, and 15th Amendments). Works really well!

Groups will pretend to be a family packing for the Oregon Trail. They must discuss what they will need for the 6 month journey. -How will they eat? -How will they sleep? -How will they stay alive? -How will they protect their families? This fun and engaging activity puts them in the mindset of a settler!

Students will research an assigned state. They should complete the worksheet to document their research. Then they will use what they have learned to create their own state stamp. This activity tailors to the many different kinds of SMART out there. Enjoy!

Students will use Google Earth to find a series of locations. Edit the list to fit your needs/lesson. They will have a blast launching off to new locations and viewing these places at street level. What can they learn about a place from seeing some of the landmarks? Time to find out!

This lesson uses an apple to show how valuable land is as a natural resource. Cutting the apple into sections to represent mountains, oceans, lakes, and parking lots will show how little land is left for growing crops.

Students will take detailed notes about important people and their contributions during the War of 1812. Then they will cut out pieces and place them in order to create a timeline of events from the War of 1812. Hope they enjoy!

Students will pick one of the founding fathers and research via 3 different websites to write down quick facts. Then you could have students create a presentation or I have them make a "fakebook" page which is a facebook profile lookalike.

These prompts help students with vocabulary supports. I usually complete one together and then let them work on the remaining two.
