This lab has students plot 20 stars that are closest to Earth and 20 stars brightest apparent magnitude from Earth on an H-R diagram/graph. Students then use the data, their chart, and an H-R diagram (for reference) to analyze and draw conclusions about the data they plotted. The lab is editable.
This lab allows students to collect leaves and measure the results of transpiration of the plant from those leaves. Students collect data regarding temperature and humidity. The students then re-design the experiment and test again.
This project provides students with the opportunity to research and plan a vacation to the beautiful Flint Hills of Kansas and Oklahoma. The project was designed to spread awareness of the prairie ecosystem, encourage relevant research, develop planning skills, and creation of an economically sound budget strategy for the trip. I use this project with my unit in science called Models of Earth. The project could easily be used in math, and social studies as well.
