I have been a fifth grade science teacher for 14 years for Broward County Public Schools in Florida. I hold a valid 1-6 Elementary certificate and am certified to teach middle school science grades 5-9. In addition, I hold a valid National Board certificate. I have written the science curriculum for fifth grade for Broward County Florida (the sixth largest public school system in the United States) and have been a science trainer for the county. I have also published lessons for CPalms and have written science test items for the state of Florida.

This Organ PowerPoint is made to test students on the human organs. It has pictures and functions of the brain, the small intestines, large intestines, bladder, stomach, liver, kidney, ovaries, skin, heart, lungs, and gall bladder. The PowerPoint is made so students can be tested. The first slide will have the question and the following slide has the answer. Human Organ Assessment

Line Plot Graph
This worksheet or quiz has two parts. In the first section, students will make a line plot graph and answer questions about beads of various necklaces. The masses of the necklaces are in fractions including 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 grams. Students will answer questions such as total mass of each necklace, total mass of all necklaces, and average mass of all necklaces. In the second section, students will analyze and answer questions about an existing Line Plot Graph.

Teaching style
Science needs to be fun! If taught correctly, students will look forward to the daily science lesson. Teachers should use a variety of learning styles when teaching science. A typical science lesson should involve a small amount of lecture or reading accompanied with a hands-on and critical thinking component.
