Here is a project I have had success with a few times. It allowed me to teach motion geometry with a lot of fun. This has the criteria I gave my students as well as the sheets I used for the students to write down their work as well as the smaller cartesian planes I used and the small pages for the students to copy over their drawings. Some tips are included and the document can be edited.
Here is a project outliine where I have students show an understanding of graphing by using Smarties or Skittles. Included are criteria sheets, examples, an explanation of the concept and the master copy of sheet used to record graphs. It is a fun way ot have students demonstrate their knowledge and the buy in from students is automatic.
I have done this project many times and it has always turned out well. I usually do it around the Christmas season. This is the criteria sheet along with different "made-up" families. I give out different families to make the project feel fresh for all students because they all will get different challenges.

Here is the criteria I gave out for my project on Geometry in our world. This is only one sheet with the criteria on it. I produced some excellent research on how math is used and how it naturally occurs in the world around us. You can get more detail and my blog underbutover.blogspot.com
I use this sheet all year. I give the students fractions and have them show me all the different forms. I use it as a warm up each Monday morning. As they demonstrate their knowledge I move to the second sheet where they begin to Add , subtract , multiply and divide the fractions I give them.
A project that I made so that the students could make and learn to use an Abacus or a Soroban. I used this with my Grade 6 and 7 students. This is just the criteria sheet that I used for this project. We made the Soroban and then learned about place value , addition and subtraction with them.
