This handout is customizable. I use it in conjunction with our Argumentative Writing unit and the Analyzing an Argumentative Essay Warm-up activity on my TPT page. It's a list of some of my favorite hook strategies, defined and with examples. **Note: I steer my kiddos away from using the rhetorical question because as 8th graders they should strive for more complexity and thought.
