About the store

Experience

I have 15 years of teaching students with special needs. I currently teach Language Arts and Social Science in SDC (Special Day Class).

Teaching style

My style of teaching may vary depending on the student and individual need. However, I truly believe in the repetitive process. If a student fails the first time, try again and again and again! Sometimes it will take multiple tries to help a student finally get it. Patience is my best friend in the classroom!

Awards & shining teacher moments

I guess winning teacher of the month a few times and getting positive letters from parents and students are my greatest awards!

My own education history

I have a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Masters in Special Education.

Additional biographical information

After seeing my Language Arts students struggle to keep up with the ELA curriculum books provided by the district, I decided that as their SDC teacher, it was up to me to make sure the materials/curriculum needed for them to succeed would have to come from someone who knew their strengths best. Me! I read each IEP, observed each student, and adapted to what students in my environment could keep up with, and went from there. I develop curriculum geared towards students with processing disorders, autism, and specific learning disabilities. My accommodating lessons are working great in my classroom! I want to share with you!
