About the store
Over 35 years ago I began this adventure called 'teaching'. I started out with my Special Education credential and began in a small country school (K-8) as a Resource Teacher. It was an amazing introduction to the world of teaching. Crazily, I found myself crying at the end of year one, watching all those buses heading out of our parking lot. After 3 years in resource, I was hired as a bilingual kindergarten teacher (at a larger school district close by). Since that time, I have taught in First, Second, and Third grades. I've served on leadership teams, created curriculum, and helped create (and recreate) benchmark tests for our grade level. Teaching is a wonderful profession'...but also a calling... and a 24/7 way of life! You need a balance, of course, but you will always be accountable for how you 'live' in front of your students. 'You made a difference,' phrase (shared by parents years later) was the best compliment ever! Teachers do make a difference!!!

Teaching style

A snapshot of my classroom would have revealed a positive, well disciplined learning environment. I was always ready to learn and willing to implement new teaching strategies. I had high expectations of all my students. We learned together in an environment that encouraged critical thinking and synthesizing of the curriculum.

My own education history

I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fresno State and went on to finish my fifth year at Fresno Pacific. I finished with a Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as well as a Learning Handicap Credential. Since that time, I have been trained in Guided Reading, Reciprocal Reading, SB1969 ELD SDAIE, Writers Workshop, EDI, Target Teaching, Close Reading Strategies along with many others too numerous to list. If you teach long enough, you'll be trained in it...lol. My favorite teaching styles were an inquiry, project-based learning, and always 'trying' to differentiate lessons for students success.
