Experience

I have been a French and Special Education Teacher for over ten years.

Teaching style

I started out teaching in a more traditional way, i.e. grammar instruction, vocabulary lists and moving from thematic unit to thematic unit with lots of testing. Seeing my students suffer and struggle was hard. I felt there had to be a different way! I came upon the method of T.P.R.S. and teaching with Comprehensible Input in line with the research done by Stephen Krashen. My teaching was transformed. The textbook is put aside and I focus on reading and creating mini stories with my classes. To improve their written French my students read..a lot and to improve their spoken French they listen first.

Awards & shining teacher moments

None...(yet)! The satisfaction and reward I get is seeing students enjoy class and develop fluency in the language.

My own education history

I studied French and Italian in University and worked in tourism before coming back to teaching.
