About the store
I have over 25 years of experience working with and encouraging high school students to be successful in math! I have taught everything from Pre-Algebra concepts to Pre-Calculus and every student from the Pre-AP high achievers to those that are repeating a course. I love getting the average student to realize that they can be good at math, that it isn't a horrible thing, and actually enjoy coming to class! If you have any questions about any of the resources in my store, please let me know by asking a question (under the "ask a question tab") or send an email directly to SecondaryMathSolutions@gmail.com.

Prime Factorization Activity (Cut & Paste)

This is a fun activity for the student to practice finding the prime factorization of numbers. The student is given 2 different question paths and 18 rectangles to cut out. The top of the rectangle has the answer to the prime factorization question and the bottom of the rectangle contains the next number to find the prime factorization of. A lot of the questions use the same prime numbers in the answer to make the activity more difficult. All of the numbers in the questions are less than 150.

Combining Like Terms Practice

This is a double-sided worksheet providing practice with combining like terms. The front contains 6 combining like terms examples that get more difficult as the student moves down the page. I teach my students to use shapes and/or colors when combining like terms, so the font is larger on these problems. The back contains four application questions where the student is given a polygon with monomial or binomial side lengths and asked to find the perimeter of each. Great for practice of combining

Teaching style

My goal is to make math easy to learn by making it engaging and fun with foldables, activities and games. In addition, I tend to make notes and practice sheets that are very focused on the specific skill or skills (sometimes pre-requisite) that need to be developed so that the student can be successful. My resources reflect this. In addition, the students that I teach are on-level or below and usually struggle with math and/or don't like it. My approach is to start with where they are and what they know and bring them up from there. My resources reflect this and do not contain too many tricky numbers or super high-level questions because I want to keep them engaged and feeling successful. Finally, I try to vary the approach and not do the same thing from day to day (notes, game, activity, foldable, etc.). Therefore, my store contains a variety of resources for each unit.
