My teaching style is probably best described as dramatic, emphatic, and critical-thinking based. I try to choose texts that are modern and relevant for English Language Arts, and I encourage students in my Health classes to feel comfortable asking different questions. Many of my lessons are student-based in that they are given a brief prompt, and then they organize themselves into pairs or groups, discuss the prompt and present their findings/ideas to the class. I am a huge fan of whole-class informal debate. Furthermore, I love injecting drama into every few weeks of lessons. Talking circles and warm-ups practiced early in the year have helped me facilitate occasional dramatic/theatric activities.
