Teaching style

With over 15 years in early childhood education, I’ve served in diverse roles—from private and Head Start preschool teacher to Applied Behavior Technician and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). Currently, I work as an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, supporting young children with diverse needs in building foundational skills. I’m passionate about creating resources that promote emotional growth, meaningful connection, and inclusive learning.

Awards & shining teacher moments

If you ask any teacher, they’ll likely say the most rewarding part of the job is watching children learn and grow—and I wholeheartedly agree. My most meaningful moments come when a child gains new skills that help them connect with others and express their needs in functional, socially appropriate ways. One of my favorite experiences was working with a non-verbal child with autism in a Head Start classroom. Over the course of a year, with the support of a dedicated team and family collaboration, he transitioned from using self-injurious behaviors to communicate to using words to express himself. Watching him develop the ability to communicate and seeing those challenging behaviors completely extinguish was nothing short of incredible. It was a powerful reminder of the resilience children possess when given the right tools, support, and encouragement.

My own education history

I hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a graduate certificate in Behavior Analysis. This academic foundation has equipped me with both the theoretical knowledge and practical tools to design developmentally appropriate, evidence-based strategies that meet the diverse needs of young learners. I’m so glad you’re here!

Additional biographical information

When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll likely find me curled up with a good book and my dog Chug on my lap, recharging with a little quiet time. I also love staying active—whether it’s hiking through the beautiful Pacific Northwest, running long distances, or exploring Portland’s amazing food truck scene with my son. These moments outside of teaching help fuel my creativity and keep me grounded, so I can bring my best self to the work I love every day.
