Arabic Calligraphy: try it!
Learn a little bit about Arabic calligraphy and artists who work in this format. Students learn to write their own names in Arabic (3 script options) and share with each other. Look for patterns in the names and sounds and some will start to notice phonics that match certain script marks. Historic Women Scientists
Play a game and explore 9 historic women in U.S. science. Match the scientists' images and names to their work. From biology to computer programming, American women are at the roots of so much scientific discovery and innovation, but have often been left out of the text books.
