In addition to completing my Masters of Hispanic Linguistics (with a focus on Second Language Acquisition), I taught introduction and intermediate level Spanish classes at Texas Tech University for two and a half years. For the last five years, I have taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Spanish classes and redesigned all three grade levels' programs to prepare students for high school Spanish I in a fluid and cumulative learning model. In addition to my teaching experience, I have professionally tutored beginner to advanced Spanish for 15 years.

Learning from mistakes is one of the most important ways for second language learners to succeed in their second language. As an instructor, it is important to communicate this to students and create a Second Language environment that students feel comfortable making mistakes in, that way we have the opportunity to guide them to the correct answer and create a meaningful learning experience.

Chosen to teach at Texas Tech University's satellite campus in Sevilla, Spain for a semester while completing my masters. Successfully completed and defended my Masters thesis in 2021.

As a second language learner of Spanish myself, I bring a unique perspective to my teaching that my students find engaging and relatable. Growing up in a monolingual household, I initially struggled with Spanish and had little interest in the language. However, in high school, I discovered a passion for Spanish that led me to pursue advanced courses and ultimately double major in Sociology and Spanish in undergrad. My dedication to learning the language continued with a Masters in Hispanic Linguistics, specializing in Second Language Acquisition. My personal experiences have given me insight into the challenges and joys of learning a second language, and I use this understanding to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. Additionally, my bilingualism has opened up a world of opportunities and connections that I am eager to share with my students. I am proud to say that I am the first and only bilingual member of my family, until I met my wife, who is from Spain. My love for Spanish and passion for teaching make me a dedicated and enthusiastic educator who is committed to helping my students achieve their language goals.
