Hola, amigos! I was terrified of teaching middle school, but I LOVE IT! These kids are incredible. They make me laugh and cringe every day :)
I have a blended CI and grammar instruction approach.
Use this slideshow to help teach your students about family relationships! It goes through the family members featured in the movie, "Coco", and describes each member of the family. Includes their relation to Miguel, their jobs, and physical descriptions of those characters. Ideal for level I students.
My most popular product adapted for Google Slides. Each slide takes you through a different family member of the movie Coco. There are short descriptions in Spanish of each character. I use this in my Spanish I class during our family unit. 10 slides! **Use this Google Forms Quiz (free!) to use as an exit ticket/formative assessment either while you go over the slides or after you're done. Could easily be turned into a Peardeck to create an entire lesson. Good for: Comprehensible input family
Task cards are an easy way to make a worksheet fun. I simply cut these out and post them around the room. Students must number their papers 1-24. Then, they walk around the room and write the correct definite article for each noun on their paper. They can do it in any order. I set a timer, and they must be done by the time the timer is done. You could also use these cards for quiz quiz trade or other review games.
17 questions, no multiple choice, includes word bank vocabulary used: El otoño la primavera el invierno el veranoHace calor hace sol hace frío hace vientoEstá nublado Hace lluvia hace nieve hace mal tiempoHace buen tiempohace fresco
I use this slideshow to introduce vocabulary about the seasons and the weather in Spanish. Students fill out their vocabulary sheet with the Spanish terms presented. There are instructions for one activity after all the vocab has been introduced, and then several slides where students must guess which season or weather is being represented. I used my bitmoji--feel free to use mine or your own. Vocabulary used: La primavera El verano El otono El invierno En que estacion es .... Que tiempo hace ho
Can be used with seasoned Spanish students, or level 1 students. I used it with my level 1 6th and 7th graders. A 3-day unit to teach Earth Day-related vocabulary in Spanish. This is comprehensible input style, using a lot of cognates and some key vocabulary the kids were introduced to at the beginning of the unit. I teach a block schedule, so my classes are 90 minutes long. This was 3 days for me - the third day was an outside cleanup day. If you're on a traditional schedule, you could make it
This is a Peardeck on what "Afrolatino" means. It is in English. It is 14 slides. It doesn't necessarily have to be a Peardeck, you can use it as just a slideshow if you wish.

Use this slideshow to introduce clothing, colors, patterns, and he/she wears in a comprehensible input way! The slides include people and characters students should be familiar with to help with memory association. The lat four slides are vocabulary sheets that students can fill out as they learn the vocabulary. #comprehensibleinput #worldlanguages #spanish
Multiple choice formative assessment for numbers 1-100 in Spanish. Let me know how you choose to use it in class! My store is still new, so if you download and use this product, leave a review and let me know how it is! Mil gracias!
Using Martina Bex's idea of the 1-3-10 free write system, you can use this sheet to see how much students are able to produce in the set amount of time. There is one section for one minute, one for three minutes, and one for 10 minutes. I print these off, have students physically write, document word amount, and pass them back within a day or two. I do not use them for an actual grade.
A "Coco" movie guide (.pdf) that is in English. Made for my brand-new learner 6th and 7th graders. We had a previous lesson that talked about each symbol for Día de Muertos and what they mean. This allows kids to watch the movie and keep an eye out for the symbols and where they're represented.
I use these printed, laminated, and hung on my walls in the front of the room so students can have better conversations with myself and each other! THIRTY-SIX phrases/words! Some teachers have printed these out several to a page and given them to students to have handy in their notebooks... a great idea!
This can be used for Spanish-Speaking countries or any other country. Each slide tells students what information to put on that slide. It is 11 slides long. Super easy, zero prep for you project that will take at least once class period. The slides are in English.
I use this to take my kids on a walk outside! Have them find the items listed (an image is on each square to help students understand what they are) and mark them off for a bingo.
This is an interactive Peardeck which introduces students to the concept of "Gustar". It asks students to identify phrases, type sentences in both English and Spanish, and much more. This product can stand alone as an entire class. It is a Google Slides, so you can edit as you please once you have made your own copy. The last slide, I inserted my own Exit Slip for the day, but have deleted it on this copy. I am currently using this as a hybrid teacher of Spanish I, teaching both online and in-pe
This bundle includes all three of my Gustar lessons: 1) Introduction to Gustar and verbs Peardeck2) Gustar Peardeck #2 / Verbs, "te gusta", intro to third person3) Gustar Peardeck #3 - Clothing / InterestsThis is three days worth of lessons to introduce the verb "gustar". It covers all present-tense forms of the verb with all subject pronouns. They introduce several verbs. The last lesson uses clothing and adjectives which we learn in the previous unit, as well. I have also created a Gimkit f
Use this activity in class for practice with the verb "gustar." Students ask one another about the likes on the board. When they find someone who likes that thing, they must have that student sign their name in the box. The worksheet gives students the speaking cues they need to conduct this entirely in Spanish. There are 16 boxes. This can take 20 minutes or so.
This is how I have students find partners in class. 1) students color the blobs accordingly 2) we do stand up, hand up, pair up. I tell kids to find a partner, then that person is your rojo partner. They write the name of that person under the color. Do the same for each color. 3) In class, when doing speaking or other partner activities, I will say "Busca tu compañero de (color)" and that partner is the one they work with.
This is the third and shortest lesson in my Gustar series. This lesson does include clothing and patterns, which we learned in the previous unit. Students express their likes and dislikes through the interactive Peardeck platform. On the last slides, I direct students to a Gimkit assignment. The Gimkit to go with this unit can be found here. Vocabulary includes:Te gusta(n)¿Qué te gusta hacer?suétervestidosandaliaspantalonescamisacortoszapatoscinturónchaquetabufandalas gafas de solestampadomora
This is the second lesson in my "Gustar" series. The first lesson can be found here. This lesson uses previously introduced vocabulary to further usage of the verb "gustar". It introduces "¿Te gusta?" and speaking about others' interests in the third person. **Slides 23 and 24 ask what "Sra. Robertson" likes - you will need to change this for you. This lesson can stand alone. It took my class of goofy 8th graders around an hour to complete it. I used this while I am currently teaching both in

Teaching style
I do not have a traditional lecture/notes classroom. Students are typically doing the chunk of the work in their interactive notebooks and in conversations with each other. You have to speak a language to learn a language!
I also believe STRONGLY in building relationships with students. These relationships can make or break your classroom!
My own education history
I got my Bachelor's Degree in Spanish from the University of Kentucky in 2015 and completed my Master's Degree in Education from Georgetown College in 2018.
Additional biographical information
My husband and I have a farm in Kentucky-- he raises cattle and veggies and I raise flowers. We also have a little boy, Wyatt, who is incredible!
