Take this outline from my Spanish classroom to get to know your students on Day 1. I included questions like what grade and class they were in, took a poll on if my students would be interested in a Spanish club, and then a chance for students to tell me info and ask for info. Verbally I prefaced that I would like to know things like do they have a job, do they care for their siblings, are they in sports, etc... and they should list that there. I also then answered questions that students posed
