Experience

I have taught ELA in British Columbia in the lower mainland and am in my second year of teaching in the arctic circle to learn more about the inequities indigenous peoples experience in Northern Canada. I hope to expand my range of social emotional learning (SEL) activities and continue to center my teaching to be student engagement and culturally responsive focused.

Teaching style

I believe that student learning is most successful when students are fully engaged and when the teaching material provokes curiosity and challenges normative thinking. Close reading/quote studies, theme based literature circles, and running simulations to support conceptual understanding are the core of my teaching.
