Setting Into Second

Students will work on sight words and blending while reading about Ground Hogs. Students will also interpret the reading and draw a picture related to the reading.

Students will be able to interact with the text. Students will cut the flaps and glue in their interactive notebook. Students will identify who the characters and the settings are as well as the problem and the solution. Students may either draw or write.

Students will be introduced to vocabulary related to St. Patrick's Day. Students will highlight vocabulary words and read the passage three times. After reading, students will illustrate a picture related to the passage.

Students will listen or read the book Wodney Wat by Helen Lester. The students will participate in activities related to the book. The students will make predictions, write about their favorite part, make text-to-self connections, and think beyond the text.

Students will be able to interact with the text through their interactive notebooks. Students will identify the characters and the settings, as well as the problem and solution, by either drawing pictures or writing.

Students will highlight the key words in the passage. They will then read through the passage three times. After reading, students will draw a picture based on what they read.
