About the store
Starting in 2014, I spent 11 months abroad teaching English to students from many different levels in Peru, Malawi, Cambodia and Vietnam. Upon returning to the states, I joined Teach for America. I was placed in San Antonio where I taught middle school English Language Arts and reading with SAISD for two years. I then became a 5th grade teacher with Great Hearts Academy which provides students with a classical, liberal arts education. After the birth of my son and with the pandemic going on, I took the year to be home with my family. I was able to help homeschool my daughters who are now going into 3rd and 5th grade.

From digging deeper into the text and exploring characterization, descriptive/sensory language, mood, and symbolism, students will discover the deeper meaning of the story

Teaching style

I believe that we all learn and retain information best when we are able to make meaningful, practical connections to it. My goal is to create lessons and learning environments where students not only walk away with new knowledge and a greater hunger for learning, but also a strengthened, more full heart.

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Health Sciences. I received my teaching certification through the Education Service Center, Region 20 TOPP program in San Antonio, TX.

Additional biographical information

I have published a children’s picture book titled Doggy Discovers Gratitude, along with a short story collection titled Be: embracing childlike wonder and the truth of who we are through short stories. Both may be found and purchased on Amazon.com
