Do your students need more information about hurricanes? My district has been closed for a week, and I wanted my students to understand the reasons behind the closing. I created this booklet in Microsoft Word to do this. It is four pages with two half pages of information on each. Included: * What is a hurricane? * Dangers of hurricanes * What to remember during emergencies * Quiz (text based questions with one open ended question) * Identify things most needed during an emergency power out

This is a great 'get to know you' activity for your students. It can be used for Friendship Day or as a beginning of the year activity. I created it with pictures and words so students who struggle with reading larger words may have an easier time.

This is a list of weekly and monthly sight words according to Lucy Calkins 1st grade priority list, but it can be used in any grade level separately. I use them as a Words of the Week center. They are on a bulletin board, but I take words down weekly for the center. I hope you can use these in your classrooms!

This is a monkey themed compliment words list to be displayed on bulletin boards. We are a bucket filling school, and when my students fill out bucket filling forms, they can take ideas from these words. (My classroom also has a monkey theme, so each word has a different monkey attached to it.)
