Teaching style

I love teaching! It is a part of who I am. My teaching style is deeply rooted in my classroom theme, "Can Do Corner" and helping every single student reach their potential. I work with children and families to support children in a structured, intentional, and student-centered, and when needed grounded in IEP-based instruction and informed by best practices. Instruction is guided by individual student goals and designed to be clear, very supportive, and developmentally appropriate. I emphasize explicit teaching, visual supports, hands-on learning, and consistent routines that promote independence and confidence. Lessons are carefully scaffolded, data driven and easy .... easy to implement, and effective across Special Education, early elementary, elementary, intervention, SEL and inclusive classroom settings.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to take on leadership roles and professional learning experiences that have shaped my work as an educator. For more than five years, I led the Special Olympics Young Athletes program within my department, supporting inclusive participation and age-appropriate skill development for young learners with disabilities. I have also been invited to facilitate professional workshops, where I share practical instructional strategies and classroom practices with fellow educators and school teams. These experiences have allowed me to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to professional growth beyond my own classroom. In addition, I have pursued advanced study in Educational Leadership, completing over 30 doctoral-level credits toward a doctorate. As part of this work, I participated in two Educational Residencies and my a doctoral thesis qualitative study proposal was approved by the Doctoral Review Board. I'm grateful for all of these experiences, that reflect a continued commitment to learning, collaboration, and improving outcomes for students and educators alike.
