Experience

I am a committed educator specializing in Photography, Graphic Design, Media Creations, Technology, Marketing, Information Processing, and Accounting at the Junior & Senior high levels. With extensive classroom experience, my resources have been refined through direct application with hundreds of students. I am in Alberta, Canada, and follow the Alberta CTS curriculum for Communication Technology.

Teaching style

In my classes, I prioritize hands-on and student-centered learning approaches. Typically, I introduce concepts and provide project instructions, examples, and necessary assets. Subsequently, students work independently at their own pace. As their facilitator, my role is to guide, support, offer feedback, and empower students to take ownership of their learning journey.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have actively mentored fellow educators and led professional development sessions to foster growth and collaboration within our school community. Two of my students achieved national recognition by winning a prestigious photography contest, highlighting the excellence of my photography program. As the yearbook advisor, I have overseen the successful publication of over 30 yearbooks, capturing and celebrating our school's vibrant memories and achievements each year.

Additional biographical information

At Shell Creatives, I am committed to providing high-quality resources to enhance teaching and learning, and most of all ASSIST YOU in your classroom. My frustration going to conventions where nearly everything seemed geared towards elementary students, constantly changing technology, and no budget to attend conferences with suitable high school content, meant I had to source out materials on my own to put together learning packages for my students. My resources are based on the Alberta CTS curriculum for Communication Technology, and my senior high classes are always timetabled as a grade 10/11/12 split, which means my resources are designed to be easy for students to comprehend and follow, often enabling students to navigate them independently. The effort I put into creating my resources, can help you in your classroom and ease your pain!
