Creating resources for teachers to have readily available to make their days and planning time less stressful is another mission of mine. I taught kindergarten for 27 years, first grade for one year, and I am currently in my fourth year of teaching K-2 reading and math interventions. This 41 page zoo animal literacy and math unit has a lot to offer. It begins with a story, “Our Day at the Zoo.” The story is in two formats. The first format has the story on one page with pictures included. The second format is in a seven page book format including a title page. The words in both formats are the same. Next, there are two pages with a total of 11 animal pictures (5 animals on one page and 6 animals on the other page) from the story for students to write the animal names using

Teaching style
I am currently a reading and math intervention teacher for grades K-2. I love helping struggling readers improve their self-confidence in reading. Teaching the necessary phonemic awareness and phonics skills helps my students become successful in reading. Also, implementing the Science of Reading as well as Secret Stories has helped my students make progress toward their grade level reading expectations.
Awards & shining teacher moments
During the 2010-2011 school year, I was honored to be chosen as Teacher of the Year for Ben Hill Primary School as well as the Ben Hill County Schools District Teacher of the Year.
My own education history
I received my Doctor of Education degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University in June 2010. The title of my doctoral study is "Writing Conferences in Kindergarten: Using Feedback to Enhance Student Writing." My Master's degree is in Reading and Literacy, and my Bachelor's degree is in Early Childhood Education.
