Experience

I have taught Kindergarten, Transitional 1st grade, ESL K-6, and 2nd grade classes. I am super super excited to be moving up and teaching 3rd grade this year!!! I have also had the opportunity to teach as an adjunct professor and teacher educator for my district teaching methods and techniques for working with ESL and Elementary school students and helping teachers prepare for the ESL certification exam.

Teaching style

I am a fun hands on creative teacher. I love making and creating new things for my class. I try to make learning meaningful and interesting to my students.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was honored to be selected to go on a Rotary Group Study Exchange. On this exchange, I went with a team of teachers to Mexico to get a hands on view of the country and their educational system. We visited many different schools and learning environments along with several state educational departments. I also have received several grants and other awards.

My own education history

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I also have a Master's Degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in English as a Second Language from Kansas Newman University.

Additional biographical information

Along with teaching and making things for my class and others, I love junking! I own a business with my sister and we travel the country collecting and searching for great rusty and unique antique and vintage finds to help decorate homes.
