How to Write a Friendly Letter

Research Project: Using a Facebook Template in PowerPoint

Writing Warm Ups- Using Pictures to Stimulate Writing
I initially created this product for my 5th grade ELA class. Journal writing was not one of their favorite activities, until I showed them these PowerPoint slides. I have incorporated pictures and sound clips to encourage students to become sensory writers. There are enough slides for two weeks worth of warm-up activities.

RAFT Writing with the Three Little Pigs
RAFT is a writing strategy that gives students a clearly defined focus for their role as a writer, their specific audience, a selected format, and their topic. It can be adapted for any grade level. This creative writing assignment uses the Three Little Pigs as a springboard. Differentiation examples for ELLs, Learning Disabilities, Struggling Readers/Writers, and GT students are included.

Reading Tips and Strategies Printable
Here is a one page overview of basic tried and true reading strategies. This would be a good handout for students to keep in their notebook or to be posted on a bulletin board. I created this for my 5th grade ELA students, but it can be used from elementary to junior high.

Additional biographical information
I was privileged to be a public school educator for 8 years. Now I am a stay at home mom and an active participant in my local church. My husband and I share the role of Sunday School Superintendent. Our job is to choose curriculum that would best fit the needs for the varying levels in our classes, which is very similar to what I had to do in my classroom. I enjoy making crafts, reading stories with my toddler, and pretending to be Ms. Frizzle. (After all, who wouldn't want to take her field trips!)
