Students will choose and emulate an artwork in the style of contemporary artist, Cindy Sherman. Students will create a photographed and edited image and write an explanatory paragraph that describes how they emulated the original work.

Students will read chapter 31 of the 15th edition of Gardner's Art Through the Ages. The worksheet includes short answer, fill-in-the-blank, and FRQ-style questions to show their understanding of the text.

This handout divides the chapters of Glass Castle by Jeanette Walls into chunks and gives students a calendar to plan out their reading deadlines. The second and third pages include a reading journal graphic organizer that can be printed several times as needed for the sections of novel.

This is a study guide for The Underground Railroad: A Novel by Colson Whitehead. The cover page provides a visual to illustrate the setting and organization of the text. Students will each be responsible for summarizing and sharing a portion of the text with the class. The study guide helps to capture students' thinking as they read as well as focus on the essential questions for the unit.

This handout is an intro pre-reading activity for the book Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. The handout covers important vocabulary and initial reading questions for the start of the book.

Topic 2.9 in the 24-25 framework for AP African American Studies requires students to identify the African traditions that have shaped American music. Students choose and research a music topic of their choice.

This packet is designed for students in 5 55 minute periods and can be completed over the course of 1 week. After reading the book Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, students will watch the film. The packet has a pre-viewing activity, 4 individual viewing day activities, and an extra credit or summative assessment.

Students will study the vocabulary related the artworks of Unit 10 AP Art History.

Students will identify quotes from the text that illustrate the railroad metaphor in Colson Whitehead's The Underground Railroad: A Novel. Next to each quote, students will describe how Whitehead's magical realism is symbolic of a greater truth about slavery in American history. Then, students will write a paragraph summing up the theme of the novel, particularly in how it relates to the novel's title. This product contains a key showing the example quotes possible for students' responses.

As a review for the Unit 10 AP Art History artworks, students will group the pieces according to thematic categories and make connections between them.

While studying the works in Unit 3 of the AP Art History CED, students will focus their attention on one structure in order to learn about the elements of gothic architectural design.

Students will explore the laws of Hammurabi's code as they study the artworks of the ancient Mediterranean in Unit 2 of AP Art History.

Prior to starting Units 7 and 8 for AP Art History, students will divide into groups and create a one-pager set of notes for a specific region of the continent and its art. They will then jigsaw or share out their notes so that all students have basic knowledge of the regions.

This lesson plan and handout provides a week-long series of activities for an end-of-the-year Juneteenth celebration and potluck. Students will research recipes, review Unit 2 Topic 2.24 in the APAFAM framework, work in small groups to choose and create a dish, advertise their dish with a poster, and design an invitation for a member of the community.

This document includes Essential Questions for the novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God, by Zora Neale Hurston and directions for a writing activity. After students read the novel with the EQs in mind, they will write an EQ paragraph. Once their instructor gives them feedback on their paragraph, students will expand it to create a full literary analysis essay.

Students will use words in context with example sentences to determine which word best fits in a crossword puzzle. This includes two puzzles and covers most of the 40 words included on the vocabulary list for The Underground Railroad: A Novel by Colson Whitehead (last page).

To help students get through the topics in Unit 3 of the 24-25 APAAS framework, students will get into small groups and lead a full class period lesson on one topic.

Students will watch or read selections from the Khan Academy Art History Introduction to Religions and Cultures section. Students will take notes on a graphic organizer for selected sections of resource.

Students will study the architectural style and context of the MAXXI museum from the Unit 10 AP Art History CED. In small groups, they will use limited supplies (marshmallows, toothpicks, etc.) to create a "fast craft" model of the structure.

In unit 9 of the AP Art History CED, students study the art of the Pacific. As a review activity, students will revisit several works and then connect what they learn about Pacific Island cultures to their own community.
