Teaching style

I believe music should be both structured and joyful. My lessons balance clear, step-by-step instruction with creativity and fun, so students not only build strong foundations but also stay excited to learn. I value consistency, encouragement, and practical tools that help students feel successful right away. Whether it’s through games, guided practice, or hands-on activities, my goal is to make learning approachable for beginners while also challenging students to grow in confidence, discipline, and musical expression.

Awards & shining teacher moments

✨ Watching my students perform their very first recital pieces with confidence ✨ Helping a teenage student master advanced repertoire like Clair de Lune in preparation for college applications ✨ Guiding beginners through their first chords, notes, and rhythms until music starts to “click” for them ✨ Leading youth in creative, community-building activities that make learning fun and memorable ✨ Being invited back to perform at local events with my husband, sharing music with the community

My own education history

I earned my Associate of Arts in Performing Arts from Southwestern Community College, where I studied under Jason Smith and Luke Matson. I went on to complete my Bachelor of Arts in Worship Ministries at Spurgeon College. My studies gave me a strong foundation in both performance and teaching, and I’ve continued to build on that training through years of hands-on teaching and performing experience.

Additional biographical information

I’ve always believed learning should feel like an adventure, not a chore. That’s why I love designing lessons and activities that blend structure with creativity—resources that don’t just teach skills but also build confidence and curiosity. Beyond the classroom, I’ve had the joy of directing youth camps, organizing community events, and creating spaces where students can grow not only in music, but also in teamwork and leadership. These experiences continually shape how I approach teaching and curriculum design. I’m passionate about lifelong learning myself, so I’m often diving into new projects—whether that’s picking up a new instrument, exploring languages, or studying Scripture. That love for learning is something I strive to pass on to my students and through the resources I share here.
