This simple in design, but easy to explain and use reading calendar was designed in Google Presentation. It has been downloaded to Microsoft PowerPoint. It is currently an editable reading calendar. It includes September through June, along with a reading log for students to keep track of the books they read throughout each month. Enjoy!
Here is a set of four "Word Hunt" bookmarks to use as a part of your word study program. My students use these book marks to search for words that match their sort during a week. This is a simple to use bookmark that your students can easily use.
Reading Karate is a spin-off of how some music teachers do Recorder Karate. As students read minutes you tie ribbons to a paint stick. I have it set that every 400 minutes students earn minutes. Another component, that you do not have to do, is assign beads to different reading genres. As students read a new or certain genere book, they earn a bead to tie onto their earned belt. This is a simple to use brainstorming sheet to use on DAY 1 of any informational text writing project. It breaks up students ideas into topics they know a lot about to topics they know very little about. The goal is to fill the bigger box with the most ideas.
