About the store
With over 27 years of experience as a Special Education teacher, I have dedicated my career to creating meaningful, accessible resources for students with diverse learning needs. I specialize in designing materials for students working at lower academic and reading levels, while ensuring the content remains age-appropriate and respectful for older learners. My resources intentionally avoid babyish graphics and visuals, making them suitable for upper elementary, middle school, and secondary special education students who need simplified instruction without feeling talked down to. All resources are created with Special Education classrooms in mind, including self-contained, resource, life skills, and intervention settings. Many materials are also easily adaptable for General Education, providing additional support for a wide range of learners. My goal is to create practical, effective tools that promote dignity, confidence, and real progress for every student.

Teaching style

With nearly three decades in the classroom, I understand that effective instruction looks different for every learner. My work as a Special Education teacher — along with experience in educational publishing — has shaped the way I design resources that are clear, functional, and purposeful. When creating materials, I focus on: Lower reading and skill levels Simple, uncluttered layouts Age-respectful visuals Real-world and functional skills Ease of use for busy teachers I know how challenging it can be to find resources that support students academically without feeling juvenile, especially for older students working below grade level. Skill Builders Hub was created to fill that gap. Each resource is thoughtfully designed to support instruction, independent work, data collection, and skill building — while respecting the maturity of the learner.

My own education history

My educational journey began with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Eastern Illinois University. I later returned to complete additional degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education. To further support students with complex learning needs, I earned a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with an emphasis in Autism from Ball State University. This background strongly influences my focus on behavior support, skill development, and data-driven instruction.
