Build a snowman! Make a snowman character description and story writing prompt. Great to follow up with drawing or arts/crafts activity. I also focus on character traits, adjectives and story grammar elements. Simple but effective!
You will be surprised how well students will be writing. Students will need less 1:1 teacher support leading to independence given the support of this graphic organizer. There are many graphic organizers for building paragraphs. I like to pair this with the “table visual”. I find using a color-coded and graphed system that mimics an actual paragraph much more realistic and carryover is easier.
Focuses on the parts of a sentence and grammar including present tenses (-ing and -s). WHO WHAT WHERE parts help in expanding sentences and providing a visual cue.
