Celebrate your class' love of reading! I put this one up outside my classroom when the snow started to fall last year. Photocopy the covers of some books your students love to read. I also had my students decorate cutouts of snowflakes and gingerbread men to add a personal touch.
This bundle provides 4 weeks worth of printable writing prompt cards for your students to cut and glue into their writing journals. Topics include metaphors and similes, adjectives, detailed descriptions and story starters. Excellent as a warm up or independent practice. Students can draw, write, discuss and edit as you see fit based on grade, ability, time and curriculum. Make writing fun!
I present to you a straight-forward fill-in sheet that can be used in so many ways in a variety of subject areas. Students can either discuss, search or be taught the spelling and meaning of vocabulary words from content area, word walls, grade-level independent or guided reading books. I use this in first grade as a visual and written tool to go along with our "Sight Word of the Day". Pages can be bound together to create shared writing class books. The possibilities are endless!
This sheet is to use with informational text or fiction. Students decide on the main idea as the showcase attraction, then choose details from the text that support it. Fun to fill in as a warm up, small group activity, or guided practice. I use this as a check-in assessment or exit ticket, or to have students share and compare the details they thought were relevant to support the main idea. It can also be used as an excellent visual to compare and contrast the main idea of two texts.
