Experience

Smehoum Learning Studio is an educational studio created by a team of educators, curriculum designers, and child development specialists, with a focus on functional literacy, argument writing, habit formation, and meaningful learning. Our team has experience in: • teaching ELA and literacy • diagnosing learning gaps and supporting mixed-level classrooms • preparing students for standardized assessments • developing classroom-ready teaching materials • designing SEL resources that build healthy habits and self-regulation skills • creating parent-friendly guides to support learning at home • integrating pedagogy, instructional design, and visual learning supports

Teaching style

Our approach to learning is built on three key principles: 1. Clear structure & scaffolding Every resource is designed to guide students step-by-step — from comprehension to analysis, and from analysis to production. We provide mentor texts, graphic organizers, checklists, prompts, and self-evaluation tools. 2. Learning that makes sense beyond the classroom Whether it’s argument writing or daily habit formation, our resources develop functional skills that students can actually use in real life. 3. Teachers shouldn’t have to carry the cognitive load Our materials are zero-prep or low-prep, saving teachers time and reducing planning stress. Instead of piecing resources together, teachers receive a full package: content + instructions + answer keys + assessment rubrics (when applicable). We also integrate: • differentiation & adaptation • support for reluctant writers • executive function skill building • identity-based messaging (“I am someone who…”) • embedded SEL focus

Awards & shining teacher moments

Our resources have been used in real classrooms to: • introduce argument writing • support assessment preparation • build confidence in low-trust learners • establish healthy habits and routines • help parents and teachers share a common learning language Our best “awards” are the classroom transformations — students who initially avoided writing or struggled with structure gradually become more confident, organized, and willing to produce. Teacher and parent feedback consistently highlights improved understanding, stronger habits, and reduced resistance to tasks with higher cognitive demand.

My own education history

Our studio includes professionals with backgrounds in: • ELA / literacy education • pedagogy & teaching methodology • child development & psychology • curriculum & instructional design • assessment & learning diagnostics • learning material design & visual supports • educational technology & AI integration

Additional biographical information

Smehoum Learning Studio develops resources that function both inside the classroom and at home. We believe literacy, independence, and habits are built most effectively when schools and families share a common framework. Our materials are practical, structured, and based on real-world learning situations rather than theoretical idealization. Before publication, every resource is tested, revised, and simplified until it becomes accessible for students and convenient for teachers. While our catalog includes resources for various age groups and disciplines, our core focus areas are: • functional literacy • writing & argumentation • healthy habits & executive function • social-emotional learning (SEL) • parent & teacher aligned tools
