This lab will demonstrate how ocean currents move matter and energy around the Earth. Highlights: - Surface Currents: global winds, continental deflection - Deep Currents: temperature and salinity - Convection Currents: hot and cold water and density differences - Upwelling: movement of cold, nutrient rich water to the surface to provide food for plankton and other marine animals.
I love using this activity to teach my students how to create a line, bar, and circle graph. My students love this activity because we get to collect our own classroom data. Examples: Students' Favorite DessertsStudents' Favorite Video GamesAverage temperatures for our local city over the course of a year (high and low temperatures)The list can go on!I would love if you left me a review below! Let me know how your students enjoyed the graphing activity.
Students will be able to observe energy transfer through radiation, convection, and conduction. Radiation - students will see how earth materials have different specific heat when a heat lamp is radiating energy. Convection - students will see how hot water and cold water react together to form a convection current. Conduction - students will be able to observe how energy will continue to transfer until both objects have reach equilibrium.
This lab is great for students learning about scientific investigations. Topics include: identifying variables, creating a hypothesis, recording data in data tables, graphing their results to analyze their data, and forming conclusions. This lab was perfect for online teaching as most students had the materials needed. I would love if you would leave me a review! Let me know how the lab activity worked for your class. My science students loved being able to participate in a lab, even if it was t
Earth Spheres Vocabulary Chart is for students to write the definition of the following words: Earth System, Geosphere, Hydrosphere, Cryosphere, Atmosphere, and Biosphere.
Students will work in six groups of 3-4 students. Each group will receive a different "topic" to research and create a Google Slide/PowerPoint presentation. After, the students will present their "lesson" to the class.
A rubric is provided.
Duration: up to the teacher.
