This is a student interest inventory that I usually have ready on the students' desks on the first day of school. This just helps me get to know my students a little better, and it also gives me time to help with drop-off procedures during the first day. There is a word search for early finishers complete with an answer key included.

This homework packet covers nightly math homework (Monday-Thursday) over a span of 5 weeks. Each night, students will have 6 practice problems,including a vocabulary study, recursive practice, and on-level skill practice. This unit features place value, rounding, addition, and subtraction concepts based on Common Core State Standards. Is $100 really a lot of money? Students explore this question as they work within a $100 budget to shop for items in sales circulars and catalogs. In this activity students will explore: money, addition, subtraction, rounding, and estimation. A scoring checklist is included.

Keep track of nightly multiplication and/or division fluency with this easy to use log. The log requires a initial from a parent/guardian (or I even allow older siblings & babysitters) to confirm nightly practice. The months October thru May are displayed on one sheet, so no need to reprint each month. Edit the time requirements or study tips to personalize as needed.

This is a great beginning of the year activity for getting to know your students. Students follow instructions to create a paper bag autobiography, that is a paper bag filled with items which tell about the student's lives/interests. It can be used at almost any grade level as well.
