Graphing Rational Functions Mini-Unit
This resource is considered a mini-unit and includes PowerPoint Lessons, Guided Notes, Homework, and Quizzes. The mini-unit takes approximately 6-8 (traditional) class days to complete. I have used these lessons in both my Algebra 2 and PreCalculus classes. The PowerPoints (accompanied with Guided Notes) were developed to help students understand (a) the key features of a graph, and (b) how to use key features to graph rational functions. Sequences and Series Graphic Organizer
This graphic organizer helps students organize information on sequences and series. This organizer includes important formulas (recursive and explicit sequence formulas, and the sum of finite and infinite series formulas) as well as the primary goal of sequences and series problems. I have been teaching high school math for 13 years in an urban classroom.
Teaching style
Beginning with the mindset that all students can learn math, even those who struggle with it, I have proceeded to tackle the tough question: How do I best organize my classroom and lessons to make this happen? The most natural teaching style for me is one characterized by efficiency and structure. I am always looking for ways to better explain concepts and clearer ways to organize complicated information.

In 2012, I changed careers from structural engineering to teaching. Wanting to get into the classroom as quickly as possible, I joined Teach For America and have been teaching ever since! Over the past 12 years I have taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, PreCalculus, Calculus, and Physics.
