We do this booklet over a few class periods when we are discussing US symbols (Mt Rushmore) and famous presidents. On each page, I have them highlight the sight words, finish the sentence, and draw a picture.

I use this at the beginning of the school year to help my kindergartners differentiate when it is a "good time" to get up and go to the bathroom or get water, and when it is "not a good time." We refer back to it often throughout the year.

In our classroom, we create this book by doing a page a day as we focus on each of the 5 senses. The children choose on thing that they can see, smell, touch, taste, or hear and draw a picture of it on the page as well as writing the word on the line. As we study each of the senses, I also have them draw a picture of the corresponding body part on the cover of the book.

We do this activity as a whole group when we are working on the maps and globes standards and cardinal directions (north, south, east, west).

My kids LOVE to wear these stickers on the 100th Day of School! They are 2" x 4" and print perfectly on labels.

I use this activity in centers when we are reading the book, The Napping House. In a small group, students work together to find and tally the number of times that certain sight words appear in the story.

We use this template on the day that we focus on our sense of hearing. Create and number 5 "sound boxes" (I use small gift boxes.) by filling with things the children are familiar with. I also have a second set of the same objects that are inside the boxes for the children to look at and choose from. I show them examples of the 5 things that are in the boxes (penny, toy car, rubber ball, unifix cube, jack, etc- I also try to use things that are all different colors so we can tell what the childr
