For over a decade, I’ve been immersed in the dynamic world of high school education, primarily teaching and supporting History and the Social Sciences. Throughout the years, I’ve had the privilege of designing and leading a wide range of courses, including: U.S. History, Civics, World Cultures, Geography, Economics, Archaeology, Americana: History of Pop Culture, Criminology, and Psychology, lastly various interdisciplinary Seminar courses. This diverse teaching background has allowed me to approach content from fresh, engaging angles while always centering student voice, inquiry, and real-world connections. Whether it’s helping students understand civic engagement or analyzing the cultural impact of pop icons, I strive to make every unit relevant, rigorous, and accessible.

I believe learning should be active, relevant, and empowering. My classroom is rooted in project-based and inquiry-driven instruction, where students are encouraged to ask big questions, explore diverse perspectives, and build real-world skills. I’m a strong believer in using technology in the classroom — for good, not for evil! When used with intention, digital tools can amplify student voice, increase access, and support deeper learning. I also embrace problem-solving approaches and competency-based learning, ensuring students aren’t just absorbing facts, but developing the ability to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. At the heart of my teaching is the belief that every student is capable, and with the right scaffolding and differentiation, all learners can access complex ideas and grow their confidence as thinkers and creators.

I was nominated twice for the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History's History Teacher of the Year, and was also recommended for the American Civic Education Teacher Awards.

Meet the Creator: Hi, I’m Jess! I’m a passionate high school Social Studies teacher with over a decade of experience creating engaging, student-centered curriculum. My classroom is driven by inquiry, relevance, and the belief that all students can succeed with the right support. I hold a Master’s in Public History and a B.S. in Social Studies Education, and I love combining historical thinking with real-world connections. I create resources that are built for flexibility, whether you're differentiating for diverse learners or looking to spice up your curriculum with project-based learning, I’ve got you covered. Outside the classroom, I’ve coached Unified Sports, organized Dungeons & Dragons clubs, and even sponsored a Ghost Hunting Club because learning should be an adventure, inside and outside the classroom.
